Sharing with purpose
At Alexi Johnson Counseling Counseling, it's part of my commitment to my clients that my therapy "room" (whether that be virtual or in-person, indoors or out) is a safe space for clients of all backgrounds and identities. Our lives don't exist solely in the space of the therapy room, though. In fact, the majority of our time is spent outside that space, in other environments neither you nor I control. Specifically in the LGBTQ+ community, there can inherently be risk showing up in some spaces due to not all people being affirming of who we are. To help reduce this risk and spotlight businesses people may in general want to support, I'm launching an effort to share resources around content as well as local queer-owned and accepting ally-owned businesses and groups in the metro Atlanta area. It is my hope that through sharing and partnering with these businesses we can find safe spaces to exist, grow, and thrive together.
